TRP Press Release; 7-19-2010
For Immediate Release:< Tucson Raceway Park an ASA sanctioned racetrack finalizes their “Back to Dirt” campaign. Tucson Raceway Park has come to a meeting of the minds with the fairboard and is excited to move forward with plans to put a new clay racing surface on top of the existing asphalt at Tucson Raceway Park. This new move to clay over the asphalt will allow Tucson Raceway Park to host some of the great dirt tours in the southwest as well as run some big asphalt events throughout the year.Mark Ebert President of Tucson Raceway Park, “We couldn’t be more excited about the move to be able to run clay on top of the asphalt, this great solution will allow us to keep this beautiful facility busy and active for great events throughout the year.” Ebert continues, “We sent the clay out for testing several weeks ago, and the results were better than we could have hoped. The PI came back at 16 and 21, an excellent result for clay anywhere and particularly in the Southwest.” PI is stands for plastic index and is the number used to determine the suitability for clay to race on, an industry standard is at least 10 a result of a minimum of 16 is excellent.“We’ve been in a bit of a holding pattern lately waiting to get everything squared away with the fairboard, there were several small issues to iron out. I want to thank everyone at SWFC for working so hard to come up with a reasonable solution that provides us the opportunity to host both dirt and asphalt races going forward,” said Ebert.Tucson Raceway Park will be hosting their first dirt race on Saturday August 21st, opening with the always popular SWDRA Super Late Models plus X-Mods, Factory Stocks, Hornets and Arizona Mod-Lites. “Since there were a couple of small delays and details, we are going to roll back our “Back to Dirt” opening day to August 21st. It will give us the opportunity to put together a couple of practices and complete some updates to the facility that we are really looking forward to sharing with the fans. We are so excited to have the opportunity to open with Super Late Models and we look forward to seeing everyone back at Tucson Raceway Park next month. Stay tuned to www.tucsonracewaypark.com we’ll keep you updated with pictures, new rules and a lot more. It is going to be a very exciting busy month,” concluded Ebert.
June 15, 2010 / For immediate release: Tucson, AZ. Tucson Raceway Park, an ASA sanctioned racetrack is proud to discuss the results from our first dirt organizational meeting on Friday, June 11 with over 200 in attendance. The evening was designed to be an open forum type to confirm the tracks intentions of bringing TRP back to its original form of dirt track racing, and to gauge the interest with moving forward with those plans. “To say we were pleased is an understatement. If there was any question we were headed in the right direction with the move to dirt, that was dispelled here tonight,” said Ebert. The TRP staff handed out race purse plans, the draft of rules for the weekly racing cars and took questions from the crowd. There were representatives of all of the weekly racing classes as well as sprint cars, off road, and as many of the local asphalt racers looking to join the dirt racing at TRP. “We want everyone and particularly our racers to know that we are listening, we will be doing our very best to institute rules that are fair, economical and easily policed. As a matter of fact we were quickly notified by many of the racers that if they were to put our X-Mod rules in place they would not have the intended effect of opening the class up and making things easier for the racers to race at several area racetracks. We will be posting updated X-Mod rules today which are in line with what the vast majority of the racers are looking for,” concluded Ebert. “We are working overtime behind the scenes, and we look to have several big announcements regarding the schedule and direction of the racetrack shortly. If racers have questions or comments, the staff at Tucson Raceway Park is happy to help at 762-TRP2 or feel free to use the contacts at the website at www.tucsonracewaypark.com. Stay tuned as we move forward to make TRP the “Premier Dirt Track in the West.” Mark Ebert can be reached at Tucson Raceway Park 520-762-TRP2 or < >mark@tucsonracewaypark.com
Press Release
June 14, 2010
For immediate release:
Tucson, AZ.
Tucson Raceway Park, an ASA Sanctioned track, is moving ahead with its plans to bring back the proud dirt track racing heritage at the fairgrounds. The race track at the fairgrounds raced for many years on the red clay surface as Corona and Raven Raceway, and the track has plans underway to go back to the proud glory of dirt track racing.
“There have been many rumors swirling surrounding TRP and dirt track racing in general in Tucson, I’m glad that USA Raceway took the time to issue a press release and clear up their future. I spoke personally with Kevin Montgomery, Co-Promoter of USA recently. We had a good conversation and we both expressed our desire to see dirt track racing continue to thrive in the Southwest.” It is apparent the local dirt tracks have worked together in the past to produce good, quality shows for the fans, and we are looking forward to working closely with them as well. TRP will have a schedule out shortly which will reflect our plan to do our very best to avoid scheduling conflicts with USA, Canyon, Prescott Valley, Las Cruces, and all the tracks in the area.”
“I’ve been involved with racing my entire adult life, and I believe there is no greater place on earth than a well run short track on a Saturday night. There are over a million people in the greater Tucson area alone, if we can raise the level of awareness with the race fans in Tucson, and get more people out to enjoy short track racing with a great family atmosphere, we see no reason that it would not help both tracks play to a full house. The bottom line will be the people of Tucson and the surrounding areas the chance to enjoy more great dirt track racing action, the very best value in entertainment on a Saturday night,” concludes Ebert.

ASR Expo Speedway Jalopy Project/ 1-19-2010
Speedway Jalopy Announcement,1-19-2010
The first Speedway Jalopy Concept kits are available produced by the ASR Expo and Avenger Chassis! You can check out the Jalopy Concept on the ASR Expo website on the Jalopy Tech. page! The first Available body styles will be the 32 Ford 3 Window and Big Boy Ford Vicky style for taller drivers.
The Speedway Jalopy has been designed to use Sprint Car Technologies using a 4.8 Stock V8 engine, and computer with the stock fuel injection on gas, and computer. Avenger Chassis is building the 106 in. wheel base chassis to be raced on dirt or asphalt, one chassis for either or, as the rules are being proposed!
The Idea was to create an incentive for those that have an older sprint car in their garage, and may want something a little more cost effective to race, this may be a good way to still go racing! An older driver or a first timer may want to get their feet wet in this type of a race car, this may also be a good way to learn sprint car set-up technologies!
The chassis is being designed so you can remove your parts from the older sprint car and put into this kit, buy a 4.8 V8 from a salvage yard if you had to, go racing with a much lower racing cost! The Vintage racing body on a proven racing chassis may be a fan favorite, and a complimentry race car style to promote with a Sprint Car Show! PS, self starting or bump start is also the plan to help make the cars a little more proficient for Saturday Night event time lines! (Promoter Happy Face, $500 to win $100 to start might work)
